What the Factories Act, 1948 expects from an industrial health checkup
The Factories Act, 1948 places the duty of worker health surveillance on the occupier of the factory. Where a hazardous process is carried on, the Act requires medical examination of every worker before employment and at regular intervals thereafter, with the results maintained in prescribed health records that an inspector may ask to see. The Gujarat Factories Rules set out the forms in which those records are kept.
