Pure tone audiometry and pulmonary function testing for individuals and for noise- and dust-exposed factory workers — in our Halol lab or as an on-site camp at your plant.
Audiometry maps the softest sound you can hear at each frequency, one ear at a time. The result is plotted as an audiogram, which shows whether hearing is within normal limits and, if not, the pattern of loss. The dip around 4 kHz that noise exposure typically produces is visible long before a worker notices any difficulty in conversation.
A pulmonary function test records how much air the lungs can hold and how quickly it can be pushed out. Comparing FVC, FEV1 and their ratio against predicted values for your age, height and sex indicates whether airflow is obstructed, whether lung expansion is restricted, or whether both patterns coexist.
Both tests are non-invasive, take only a few minutes, and are reviewed by our consultant pathologists before the report is released. Interpretation and treatment decisions should always be made with your treating doctor.
Audiometry is performed at City Pathology Laboratory, 2nd Floor, Dwarkesh Chambers, Near Bus Stand, Halol, Gujarat 389350, for individuals and for factory workers exposed to workplace noise. On-site audiometry can also be arranged at your plant.
A pulmonary function test measures how much air you can breathe out and how fast. You blow into a mouthpiece a few times and the machine records values such as FVC, FEV1 and the FEV1/FVC ratio, which help assess obstructive and restrictive breathing patterns.
Workers exposed to sustained noise can lose hearing gradually without noticing, and workers exposed to dust, fumes or chemicals can lose lung capacity the same way. Periodic audiometry and PFT detect that drift early and give the employer documented evidence of surveillance under the Factories Act, 1948.
Audiometry takes about 10 to 15 minutes in a quiet setting. PFT takes around 10 minutes including practice blows. Both are painless and need no needles.
For audiometry, avoid loud noise exposure for at least 14 to 16 hours before the test. For PFT, avoid heavy meals and smoking beforehand, wear loose clothing, and tell us about any inhaler you use so timing can be noted on the report.
Yes. We run shift-wise camps for factories in Halol and GIDC Halol, testing groups of workers in sequence and delivering individual reports plus a consolidated summary of workers needing follow-up.
